About 10 years ago, the idea of property wide WiFi at an apartment community to increase tenant retention and build occupancy was a sound fiscal decision. However the way people use the internet today has changed and broadband technology has advanced tremendously. That's why property wide WiFi is a dead end, but strategic WiFi will add real value to your property.

High speed WiFi where you live sounds pretty nice, doesn't it? I was reading an article in TechCrunch about how Multi-Family Real Estate is one of the fastest growing sectors in the country and how technology in this sector is trying to keep up with their demand. Today over one third of all new housing is made up of these multi-family units which should be a huge motivation for property managers to update and employ new technologies and amenities. The smart property management groups are doing exactly that.

A new study shows that offering WiFi is more enticing to customers than offering freebies like chocolate or water. Having WiFi in restaurants, waiting rooms, bars and coffee shops is common place today. However now it has become the preferred amenity for customer loyalty.

Loyalty programs have been around for decades. The airline and hotel industry have certainly leveraged the power of these plans and restaurants are not too far behind. Far more restaurant brands are using some form of frequent flyer program to build loyalty and reward their guests for that faithfulness. Knowing how to begin or reinvent your existing program can be daunting. Thankfully there are a number of options to engage your guests.

WiFi enabled devices come and go in cycles. Those that are used for personal computing purposes have certainly come a long way in size and convenience. The big three in features that consumers were looking for are battery life, portability and of course the absolute must have; WiFi. What looked to be a real winner for bundling in these features into one product was the introduction of the Netbook. Sales were more than brisk for this inexpensive device but now, a resurrection of its popularity is unlikely. The Tablet has invaded the space previously held by the Netbook and the Tablet has become the dominant species.

Since many are working on budgets this time of year and many are reevaluating some o f their applications I thought I would help on one small level. There are a number of technologies that are available now that were not even dreamt of a few short years ago that will help save both time and money. Too many people are stuck on the more traditional routes and dont take advantage of these new service applications that could increase their bottom line. Because of the fast ROI of cloud services any business can take advantage of money saving and brand enriching technologies quickly and inexpensively. Trust me, it is worth your time to do a bit of investigating to see if your current service providers offer cloud services, or if their competition does. If your head is not in the clouds, maybe it should be.
